Barry ‘the Fish’ Melton, psychedelic pioneer guitarist of Country Joe and the Fish and sometimes singer lived the life, played Woodstock Festival in August 1969 met them all and lived to tell the tale.
Now he’s in Hull with Stephane Missri from Paris . Expect tales of the heady days and songs old and less old ! The mid late 60s CJ and the Fish Lps are counter-culture classics and Barrys not lost it. Expect the best bluesy folky rockin night in a long time here. Barry will be on stage by 9 so don’t be late.
Also on the bill are Crooked Weather who should of played Woodstock, but weren’t born, they have been getting great reviews all over the country touring with their new LP ‘Are we lost?’, psych workouts and folk-rock leanings .
Starting the evening off will be Dez Allenby, who can remember the 60s! from his days in psych-folk cult outfit FOREST. In 1969 he was on constant tour in a beat up van , hanging with John Peel and more. Tonite he’s doing a retrospective with all sorts of musical instruments and tales. Maybe even a Forest song slipped in there. So come and dig the groove exactly 50 yrs after 1969.
And expect totally appropriate DJ tunes in between acts . a great chance to see legends of today and hopefully tomorrow up close in Hull.
