After being featured as one of Clash Magazine’s Artists Set To Rise in 2018, Mali Hayes’ music is with perfumed with vibrant real life stories and is coloured with honesty and soul, also described as a Jazzy-Nu-R&B type Neo Soul. Having graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2015, she met who would be her band mates and began to play regular Leeds and Manchester shows, which led her reputation to grow locally.
After recording and releasing her Debut EP, Quiet Silence, in late 2016 with her producer and mother, Yvonne Ellis, Mali hit 2017 running as she joined Gilles Peterson’s Brownwood expansion and talent discover program (Arts Council England) – Future Bubblers, saw herself performing at The Jazz Cafe (London) and also sought a slot at Gilles’ Festival Embassy (House of St Barnabas, Soho)

Gilles Peterson – BBC 6 Music/Brownswood/Worldwide FM –
“I was fortunate enough to play demos on my shows here at the BBC by Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott. All premiers. And this is another one I think I’m gonna be proud of in a few years. Remember the name, Mali Hayes”

After various radio airplay (BBC 6 Music – Gilles Peterson, BBC Radio 2 – Jamie Cullum, BBC Radio 1xtra – Jamz Supernova and more), a feature in Clash Magazine’s ‘Artists Set To Rise’ and numerous support slots (Bilal, Jamila Woods, Will Heard, Elli Ingram, Tokyo Myers, Blue Lab Beats, Sons Of Kemet) Mali sets to continue the journey in the rest of 2018 and beyond which will see her headlining Night & Day cafe for Manchester Jazz Festival and also performing at Soundwave and Outlook festivals in Croatia!

Jamie Cullum – BBC Radio 2 –
‘A really great new British female vocalist from Manchester.
She’s got a real un-flashy kind of approach which I really like. Kind of a milder Jill Scott / Erykah Badu, definitely one to watch. We’ll be hearing a lot more from her I’m sure!”
