FRIDAY 24 MARCH

Jeremy Thomas, recipient of BAFTA’s Michael Balcon Award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema, among other awards, will talk about his film career, which has to date included collaborations with directors David Cronenberg, Nicolas Roeg, Wim Wenders and Richard Linklater. Jeremy’s father, Ralph, and his uncle, Gerald, were both famous film directors, and both were born in Hull.

In the week before ‘City of Cinema’, there is a screening of the much-loved CARRY ON UP THE KHYBER directed by Gerald Thomas, at Middleton Hall, on Monday 20 March


SATURDAY 25 MARCH
The BAFTA award-winning Tracey Seaward, born in Willerby, will talk about her production career, which has featured collaborations with Danny Boyle, Fernando Mereilles, Steven Spielberg, and Stephen Frears, and has also included in recent years the 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony. SUNDAY 26 MARCH
The BAFTA award-winning Chris Hees, recipient of the 2016 BFI Vision Award, will host a film production masterclass. Born in Hull, Chris helped bring the BFI Film Academy to Hull for the first time and continues to nurture filmmaking talent in the city. Book tickets here
