Hull Independent Cinema & Leeds Int’l Film Festival presents: LIFF 31 Audience Award Winner - Sami Blood.

Sami Blood | Director: Amanda Kernell | Norway Denmark Sweden | 2016 | 110 minutes | Unrated - 18+

Amanda Kernell’s powerful coming-of-age drama was a moving audience favourite at LIFF 2017 and the film also won this year's prestigious Lux Prize for Best European Film. A teenage reindeer herder in 1930s Sweden faces a society rife with prejudice and discrimination as she is forcibly removed from her family and sent to a state boarding school.

The 31st Leeds International Film Festival runs from 1st to 16th November. The final screening of the Leeds audience favourites in Hull will feature one of the most popular selections from this year’s film festival that can’t be seen anywhere else in the UK. Full details of the chosen film will be announced in late November.

Our season of audience favourites from Leeds International Film Festival continues with more unique films that have never been released in the UK - don’t miss them!

LIFF is a portal for audiences to discover the real world of film that exists beyond regular film exhibition. LIFF primarily supports outstanding new talent and established talent that has not received deserved exposure in the UK. LIFF considers narrative, documentary and animated films, in feature-length and short formats, and in multiple genres and from all countries.

Founded in 1987 Leeds International Film Festival is renowned as a dynamic event with a reputation for challenging and innovative programming. Last year LIFF presented a huge variety of exceptional films at over 300 screenings and events at 30 venues over 15 days.
